Wide Awake

Darkness amplifies the whispers of those marauding night time thoughts - they go stalking through the quiet hours, hunting for those to whom sleep will not come. That silent black realm seems vast when you are wide awake in the darkness, just waiting for the dawn to arrive.

Love this one. Darkness amplifies indeed!

I like the image you have created here of dark thoughts stalking those who can not sleep...an entity!
good!
But not good if you can not sleep...that is one thing I do very well...sleep...I hit the pillow and I'm out...It is a gift I am grateful for...And boy do I dream
Wishing you sleep tonight
..sweet sleep..
kiss of dreams be yours

Hi Jennifer, yes, small things can have a very large shadow in those dark hours!

Hello Suz, I usually sleep easily and deeply but sometimes wake in the middle of the night, wide awake and it is then I hear the whispers and see the shadows. . .

Thanks both of you for your comments, it is always good to see you. :-)

I love the mystery and multi-dimensional feel of your words. Life isn't all rainbows and butterflies- then it would be trite and superficial. The darkness is rich too, with amplified whispers and wide awake vastness. Great Merton quote too. Thanks for this post!

Hi Colleen, yes we need both the dark and light or there would be no contrast. Thanks for your comment as always it is much appreciated. :-)
