Barely Touched

Silver birch, trunk white like paint scraped from a canvas punctuates the scene beyond my window. The sunlit trees stand in stark relief still clothed in summer, autumn has barely touched them here. Lithe and liquid eyed the squirrel makes his way along the fence and down the lilac branches into my garden.
