Six freshly bathed starlings artfully arranged along the top of my garden fence, fresh from the splashing bird bath they glisten as they preen and dry, iridescent in the sunlight.

Hi Jennifer, yes, I love it too. :-) We have a real assortment of birds outside the window today, varying sizes and shapes all singing away and helping themselves to seed and water now the bathers have gone!
Why Susannah that read like a poem..it is a poem So good to have you post I have missed you....or have I been missing them? I love starlings...clowns of the garden!
You haven't to be a starling for shining after a bath :-) your words remind me on my self or just on any swimmer. Because I started again with swimming. I loove it. After one hour swimming I leave the pool feeling weightless and ready to shake my whole body to get read of the water drops. And when I imagine this picture it makes me smile. Or maybe sometimes you want to be just a little bird.. :-)

I love it when birds hang out in a row - I always imagine they're gossiping! :-) And a lovely summertime snapshot Susannah.

Hi Suz, good to see you. :-)
I could do with your help naming some planta in my garden - (pictures over at my incredible joy blog.)
Hope all is well with you. x
Starlings may be the hooligans of the garden but they have the most beautiful feathers.
A lovely image, Susannah. :-)
Thanks Paul. :-)
