Waiting room, silence broken by hushed whispers. Outside, the sky hangs heavy and grey over the red brick buildings. His big hand is warm, he curls his fingers around mine and squeezes. A small gesture that speaks volumes. She comes with clipboard and calls his name. He gets to his feet and quickly leaves the room. Silence resumes.

Observations from a routine appointment at the local hospital today. I wrote them as three separate stones, but they became one here. :-)
Thank goodness routine. I felt the hush reading it.
I love your captured 'moments' Susannah, and this one is especially poignant.
Thanks everyone. :-)
Good to see you. x
So glad it was routine. I felt a pang of concern until reading comments. Wonderful day to you, Susannah.
Thanks Kim. Good to see you. :-) x
Nicely observed detail
Thanks earlybird. :-)
Isn't it wonderful when things come together and make a whole? Am also glad it was routine. Had me concerned when you ended with resuming silence. Then read the quote. Good one, Susannah,
Elizabeth
Yes, it is great when things come together like that. ;-) Always good to see you Elizabeth. x
Goodness, I recognise this - it makes you appreciate getting back outside!
It certainly does Morvah! :-)
Good to see you here. x
